What informs our work?

The concerns for Indigenous Australians are many. Indigenous children are nearly 3 times more likely than non-Indigenous children to die before their first birthday. Two-thirds will not finish secondary school. On average they will die 20 years earlier than those from the wider population.

Why do we do this work?

World Vision seeks to partner with Indigenous communities in the design and implementation of successful projects that tackle the causes of poverty and transform the lives of children and communities. World Vision's strategic contribution is not as a provider of funds or services. It is technical assistance provided in long-term projects delivered through effective partnering.

World Vision Australia understands that there are no silver bullets, or one-size-fits-all approaches to addressing Indigenous disadvantage. But there are local solutions to local problems, linked in to regional, state and national frameworks.

How you can help?

The plight of some disadvantaged indigenous communities is well publicised in the Australian media. A story less frequently told is how the actions of groups and individuals can turn the lives of the most at-risk Australians around, and reverse generations of poverty, welfare dependence and neglect.
