World Vision CEO Tim Costello accepts position on Gillard’s climate change roundtable
Monday, October 18, 2010
As a global agency dealing with people in poverty who depend on the health of their local environments to survive, World Vision appreciates the opportunity to be involved in the Federal Government’s stakeholder roundtable on climate change.
World Vision’s CEO Tim Costello will be attending the roundtables and said it was very important for civil society to be involved in responding to an issue that will impact on not only the environment, but on the lives of our children and millions of poor people around the world.
“World Vision is looking forward to contributing to these discussions. We support the urgent development of practical solutions that cut carbon pollution,” he said.
Mr Costello encouraged the government to ensure the roundtables were a participatory, inclusive and transparent process that would be used to inform the work of the Multi-Party Climate Change Committee.
