STAND UP Against Poverty

Australian churches can STAND UP Against Poverty and be part of a Guinness World Record

Next month, your church community can join people from more than 100 countries and be a part of something big.

STAND UP is a unique global mobilisation that involves people from all nations and all walks of life who STAND UP together in workplaces, schools, churches and at public events to symbolise their unity and commitment to MAKE POVERTY HISTORY.

Last year, a world record 43.7 million people participated in STAND UP events, with 107,000 Australians joining millions across the globe in the "largest single coordinated movement of people".

In 2008, the STAND UP Guinness World Record attempt takes place over one week covering all global time zones. Event and participant numbers are registered and tallied with all participant numbers forwarded to Guinness World Records to enable official world record holder achievement.

Get involved:

Your church can participate in STAND UP at or after your church service on Sunday 19 October or hold your own STAND UP event in your community or youth group anytime between 9am Friday 17th October - 11.45pm Sunday 19th October 2008.

This "How to STAND UP at Church Guide" and the "How to STAND UP Toolkit" includes everything you need to know about organising or participating in a STAND UP event.
