Finding hope amidst the rubble

After a 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck central Myanmar on 28 March 2025, Sandar and her son Thet, aged seven, were forced to sleep out in the open. Their home was badly damaged and unsafe to live in. Donations like yours helped to provide Sandar and Thet with food and essential hygiene items, as well as access to clean water.

During this difficult time, the rice provided by World Vision is a vital support for us,” Sandar said. “We are grateful for your support. It is essential for us.

Fatouma mends her livelihood

In Iraq, Fatouma’s livelihood was stripped away when she had to sell her prized sewing machine to pay for urgent medical treatment.    

With support from donors like you, Fatouma joined a World Vision-supported savings group and began depositing a small amount into the group’s pooled savings twice a month. After a year of saving, she was able to buy a new sewing machine and is now making garments for a local retailer.

Now my situation is better,” she says. “I am so proud to be the breadwinner of my family.
