See the progress you helped make happen in your sponsored child’s community

When the project started in 2005, children suffered from malnutrition. Poor access to clean water and sanitation had a negative impact on their health. There was also a high drop-out rate from primary school. Over the last 17 years the community has focused on reducing these significant barriers to child wellbeing.

Together we've achieved so much

A decrease in the prevalence of stunted growth in children under 5 years of age

At the start of the project the rate of stunted growth in children under 5 years of age was 59 percent.

This was decreased to 45 percent by 2021 by focusing on significantly improving nutrition and childcare practices. Better access to clean water and toilets led to improvements in hygiene and sanitation.

84 percent of adults now say they would report a case of child abuse

At the start of the project this figure was 59 percent. A strong focus of the project was to protect vulnerable children from violence, as well as verbal or physical abuse.

Before, many children would be left unsupervised while their parents and caregivers would be away working. The Son Tay community has been educated on children’s rights and protection through the creation of Child Clubs. Positive and peaceful relationships among community members have also been promoted.
