Kampong Leng Project, Cambodia

See the progress you helped make happen in your sponsored community

When the project started, many schools were in poor condition and lack of access to clean water and healthcare left children prone to ill health. Farmers had limited skills to increase food production.

Thanks to your support, your sponsored child and other children in the Kampong Leng community have improved access to education, clean water and healthcare and their families have improved livelihoods.

Together we've achieved so much

26 pre-schools were built to improve access to early learning

In addition, four primary schools were built and nine school libraries equipped.

  • 16 child and youth clubs were set up where children can learn about, and raise community awareness of, child rights and child protection issues.
  • 100 percent of parents and guardians are supporting their children's education and fewer children are being pressured to drop out of school to support their families.

92 percent of families now have good access to clean water

This is up from 11 percent in 2002.

  • 195 wells were built and this has led to a reduction in child illness.
  • 245 toilets have been built to improve household hygiene and families have learned about the importance of hand-washing and other hygiene practices for good health.

95 percent of pregnant women gave birth at a health centre in 2016

This is up from 16 percent in 2000 and it has helped to reduce the rate of maternal and infant illness.

  • 91 percent of children aged below two were immunised.
  • 32 Village Health Support Group members were equipped with skills to provide health and nutrition counselling to mothers in their villages.

"I feel very excited to attend children club activities in my village … Thanks, World Vision, for supporting my community."
