"Every cent counts"
The StarKids expression is recognition of the generosity demonstrated by supporters everywhere, and on 7 August, at Jetstar's head office in Collingwood, recognition was the name of the game.
StarKids Day provides the opportunity to thank staff and supporters for their contributions. Over the past eight years, contributors have helped to raise more than $4.8 million for StarKids programs in Cambodia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Thailand, Australia and more.
The support has led to positive change for tens of thousands of people all over the world.
But this year, StarKids Day served another purpose – as launch day of a new StarKids website. The website features stories told by the children living in StarKids-supported communities, as well as general StarKids information (like how YOU can contribute to these amazing projects).
World Vision and Jetstar came together eight years ago with the shared objective of supporting communities all over the world. The partnership born of this objective, StarKids, supports humanitarian relief and community-based development projects in Australia and across Asia. It’s about transforming the lives of families and communities living in poverty and giving kids a brighter future.
Jetstar CEO David Hall delivered an impassioned speech about how proud he feels reflecting on how far this partnership has progressed, and the impact of both his staff and Jetstar supporters in providing funding to these projects.
World Vision CEO Tim Costello echoed that pride when he delivered his own message of sincere thanks to all those who have played their part in making the StarKids program so successful.
“From the moment a supporter begins their journey with Jetstar, to their first steps into these countries, the Jetstar staff have created a powerful StarKids experience which has inspired such generous support from their customers, and everyone plays their role. Every cent, every moment, it all counts,” he said.
