Growing for the future, 2018
Watercolour on white kidney bean
12.5cm x 12.5cm frame

This miniature painting is of Martha and Aban who are South Sudanese refugees.

They were forced to flee their homes when civil violence broke out and they were left with no option but to escape. Despite losing so much, Martha’s family have opened their hearts to eight orphaned children, including seven-year-old Aban, who lost her parents in the conflict.

Through World Vision’s food-for-training program, we train community members in agriculture and ways to sustainably improve their household income. This empowers communities to meet their own food needs, so they can overcome hunger and break the cycle of poverty.
