Aussies are generous and caring people. The Australian Government can and should do more to help people around the world in urgent need of a fair go. We must stop ignoring the crisis in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and start helping the millions of displaced people. 

Use the below form to send a quick email to your local Federal MP. Ask them to do all they can to increase Australia's aid and fund the DRC Humanitarian Response Plan.

Where is Australia's aid?

While some Australian aid reaches the DRC indirectly via UN organisations, the Australian Government should start directly funding the DRC Humanitarian Response Plan.

Widespread militia activities, unrest and violence fuelled by ethnic and political conflict, are forcing people to flee their homes.

The situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) is one of the world’s most complex, challenging and forgotten crises.

The DRC crisis is exacerbated by the nation's biggest ever outbreak of the Ebola virus.

There are 4.5 million internally displaced people in the DRC. Over 800,000 have fled into neighbouring countries.

1 in 8 severely malnourished children are from the DRC

136,856 girls and boys between 0 and 4 years of age are amongst the 800,000 Congolese refugees.

41% of Congolese girls aged 5-17 are working and only 36% of girls are enrolled in high school.
