World Vision child sponsors are investing in the leaders of tomorrow and helping to reshape our world.
As a World Vision child sponsor, you’re helping to make the world a better place for the most vulnerable children. Alongside other generous sponsors and donors across the globe you’ve helped to make a lasting positive impact on the lives of more than 200 million children since 2012.
Every day, sponsored children – and many other children living in their communities – are gaining new opportunities to reach their full potential.
In Mali, child sponsors have been helping to improve children’s lives since 1988. As a young boy living in rural Mali, Dr Amadou Niangaly received life-saving healthcare through child sponsorship. This support inspired him to become a doctor and he’s now working in a Mali hospital, saving the lives of others.
Our work to improve the health and wellbeing of Mali’s future doctors, teachers and business leaders continues through the provision of essentials like clean water and sanitation.
Last year, World Vision celebrated drilling its 1,500th borehole in this West African nation. We are on track to reach our target of bringing clean water access to more than 800,000 Malians between 2010 and 2020.
Boubacar was selected as one of 91 most vulnerable children from his community for child sponsorship. When World Vision arrived in his community there was no health clinic, no clean drinking water and no school. Today all these things exist and so much more. And especially vulnerable children like Boubacar have received the care they need to thrive.
“When I think about all the good things that have happened here I am grateful, I stay hopeful, because children are in school and tomorrow, might succeed in life,” says Boubacar’s mother Fatoumata.
As for her precious son, she adds: “Today he has a fulfilling life and it is a great burden that is taken away from us. We can dare to hope and believe in the future that is ahead of him.”
