The priceless gifts that World Vision Community Group members give - their time, talent and energy – provide enormous sustenance for the work and achievements World Vision can be proud of - in Australia and overseas.

World Vision CEO Tim Costello and Phillip Island Community Group members Roma Caulfield and June Botten cut the cake at their group's 25th anniversary celebration.

World Vision Community Groups

Since the 1970s, World Vision Community Groups have seen like-minded individuals coming together and raising funds for specific World Vision projects.

For nearly 40 years, right across Australia, World Vision Community Groups have achieved some fantastic things.

And groups have kept going because of the fun – and rewards – being part of a World Vision Community Group brings.

About the fundraising

Community Groups raise funds for specific World Vision projects through an array of activities: child sponsorship and trivia nights, dinner dances and auctions. By coming together, individuals maximise what they can do to help people in developing communities, and encourage others to take notice of the suffering in the world around us.

Last year, Groups raised nearly $500,000 through fundraising for special projects and child sponsorship.

How Community Groups meet

Community Groups may take on a variety of forms and meet together and fundraise in different ways, including:

  • Informal home-based groups with 5-20 members who meet regularly once a month.
  • Formal larger groups which meet once a month in a church or community hall.

Members receive updates on the projects they donate to enabling them to see the ongoing results of their contribution.

Support from World Vision

World Vision provides Groups with regular updates on our projects – but we also have activity and fundraising resources available too - banners, badges, information about fundraising and brochures. We can arrange volunteer training, and invitations to special events.

There are approximately 40 World Vision Community Groups around Australia – all looking for new members. The directory below shows the group name and location.
