Tax Statements
Tax Statements
If you have requested a tax statement or made automatic payments during the year via credit card or direct debit, you will receive an official tax statement showing your tax-deductible donations made to World Vision Australia in the 2007 financial year. Depending on your own tax position, it will help you to claim a tax deduction when it is time to prepare your tax return. Donations must be $2 and over, and have been donated to a tax-deductible appeal, to qualify for tax-deductibility. Your tax statement for the 2007 financial year will be mailed to you in the week commencing 21 July, after we have processed all payments relating to the financial year ending 30 June 2008.
To save money, from 1 July 2008 we will no longer be issuing individual receipts unless requested. Instead you will simply receive an annual tax statement that details all donations for the past financial year.
To help keep our records up to date we’d appreciate if you could provide us with your current email address. Please use our online form to update your email address.
This year you have contributed to the sponsorship of over 400,000 children around the world. Their families and communities have also benefited and prospered, thanks to your generous support.
Cash, Cheque and Money Order Donations
If you donate to World Vision using cash, cheque or money order, and have not requested a tax statement, you will not be sent one. You should use other documents such as your bank account statements, money order receipts or the receipts we have issued to you throughout the year for taxation purposes.
Donations Made Through a Bank
If you donated to any World Vision appeal at a bank branch, your donation will not be included in your tax statement. You should use the deposit slip issued to you by the bank, at that time, for taxation purposes.
40 Hour Famine
If you sponsored a 40 Hour Famine participant, your donation will not be included in your tax statement. You should use the receipt issued to you at that time for taxation purposes.
Workplace Giving
If you supported World Vision through the Workplace Giving Program, your contributions will not be included in your tax statement as donations received this way are pre-tax in nature. Your employer is required to provide confirmation of your pre-tax contributions via the Workplace Giving program for the relevant tax year. You must still submit confirmation of Workplace Giving donations when completing your tax return.
Group donations
Many of our generous supporters give as a group with friends, family or work colleagues. This is done by pooling donations and having one person from the group send World Vision the pooled amount. Each year, World Vision spends considerable resources (in staff time and postage) in responding to requests for tax statements to be issued to individual members of such groups.
If you donate in this way, you can help us save on administration costs (thus ensuring more of your donations are applied directly to our project work), by contacting us at the start of the financial year to make arrangements regarding the issuing of receipts and tax statements to each member of your group.
