Who Linking Hands helps

Indigenous children, their families and communities...
Indigenous Australians face challenges little understood by the majority of Australians. This can be seen across a range of indicators such as infant mortality, illness and life expectancy, educational participation and achievement, employment and housing.

Indigenous children are nearly three times as likely to die before their first birthday. Two-thirds of Indigenous children will not finish secondary school and on average, will die 20 years younger. As a child focussed organisation, World Vision is committed to securing the physical, emotional, social and material wellbeing of Indigenous children. Our experience has show us that lasting benefits for children come from fostering the development of a child's family and community.

Report after report has told us that successfully addressing Aboriginal disadvantage requires genuine engagement with Indigenous communities. Many Australians are now partnering with us to empower Indigenous communities to alleviate disadvantage. We couldn't do this worthwhile work without their support.
