India trip inspires new Melbourne Gospel Choir CD

Published: 16 December 2011

  1. Melbourne Gospel Choir's new CD "Freedom" raises awareness about child labour and human trafficking.

In 2010, Judd Field from the Melbourne Gospel Choir visited a number of World Vision projects in India. The experience drastically changed his world view.

On his return, he began recording a new CD with the Melbourne Gospel Choir based on his experiences.

The result is “Freedom”, which has been produced in partnership with World Vision in support of our Child Rescue program that helps protect children from suffering, danger and abuse.

It includes performances by Guy Sebastian, Marcia Hines, Vita Adam and other acclaimed gospel artists.

Judd’s aim for this CD is to create awareness about the plight of so many around the world who are enslaved by child labour and other symptoms of poverty.

The choir members are passionate advocates for an end to human trafficking and slavery, which affects over 27 million people globally.

“World Vision has been providing assistance and help to these communities ravished by the affects of poverty for so many years, I could not sit back and watch any longer,” Judd said.

“This record is my way of helping those in developing countries get their dignity back.

“My hope and prayer is that through this record, you will find freedom for yourself and consider getting involved with the Child Rescue program. Together we can find a way to bring freedom to others.”

In addition to supporting World Vision Child Rescue, the Freedom CD also encourages people to advocate for an end to human trafficking and slavery through World Vision’s Don’t Trade Lives  campaign.

Freedom would make a great Christmas gift for all gospel music lovers. You can pick it up at ABC shops and selected JB Hi-Fi stores around Australia.
