A need for climate solutions

Published: 27 August 2009

  1. In the Philipines, World Vision helped children to clear rubbish and plant mangrove trees along their local shoreline.
  2. Crops wither in Angola as a result of cycles of flooding and drought.
  3. Myanmar’s Cyclone Nargis flooded rice fields with contaminating salt water.

Climate change has major impacts for people who depend on the land to survive; land that is increasingly ravaged by environmental change. Developing countries are facing even greater setbacks due to climate change.

Climate change has the potential to undo the last 50 years of work that international humanitarian organisations like World Vision have helped to achieve.

World Vision is committed to help poor communities prepare themselves for climate change. We will do this through increasing our efforts in environmental protection, restoration and sustainability projects. We will also continue the vital work of advocating for sustainable policies.

Our One Earth program supports many such efforts.
