World Vision has many community development projects that qualify as Government Matching Projects. Government Matching Projects are those that have been approved for financial support from the Australian Government. This occurs when development project proposals submitted by World Vision are approved for funding by the government’s international aid and development body (AusAID).
Once a proposal has been approved, AusAID provides 75 percent of funding and asks World Vision to raise the remaining 25 percent. That means for every $1raised by World vision, $3 is given by the Australian Government.
Around 50 to 60 World Vision Government Matching Projects are approved each year and these projects cover a range of needs including health, HIV and AIDS, education, capacity building, water and sanitation and food security. Our Government Matching Projects generally run for an initial three-year period, and may be extended for an additional three years. This gives our support partners the opportunity to be involved with an individual community for a longer period of time.
Government Matching Projects present a great opportunity for your church to be a part of a project that can dramatically change the lives of people in a developing community. Programs can be funded in part or in full, and all supporters are provided with a progress report at the end of each year.
We need the support of church communities across Australia so that we can maximise the multiplying effect of these Government Matching Projects, that enable us to address specific needs beyond the reach of our existing development work.
