Poverty is a huge problem. But it’s not the size of the problem that counts, it’s how we choose to deal with it that matters.
Do we turn a blind eye because it’s all too hard? Or do we try to understand the reasons behind the problem and solve it step-by-step?
Just as poverty is the result of hundreds of smaller problems all snowballing into one big problem, it can be addressed through hundreds of smaller actions adding up to make a big difference.
These actions can involve giving money, or sometimes just giving your time. They can take five minutes or involve hours of commitment. There are things that individuals can act on, and that governments, businesses and organisations can do. They are all practical, all doable, and they will all make a difference in the lives of some of the world’s poorest people.
Making connections is what World Vision Connect is all about.
At the World Vision Connect site you can learn:
- how the things we do make an impact on the lives of others, especially those living in extreme poverty
- why poverty exists, and why we should care about it
- what actions you can take to change your own lifestyle that will have a positive impact on poverty
- how to make your voice heard, and how to listen to what others have to say
- how each of us as individuals – not just governments or businesses – can make a real difference when we act together.
If you want to find out more about the issues surrounding poverty and how the things you do can impact this world, then visit World Vision Connect.
