Forthcoming Exhibition

JB
Canvas by senior painter Jimmy Baker

From May 10 Birrung Gallery is delighted to announce an exhibition of recent works by ten  senior male artists from remote Central Australian communities.Five of these artists are among the the living Ngangkari ( medicene men) left from an era that is rapidly diminishing.
Of special note are works by Jimmy Baker who featured in the Cultural Warriors exhibition at the National Gallery of Australia earlier this year and 92 year old Dickie Minyintiri who is senior custodian of Uluru. It will also be a sneak preview of the first solo exhibition of Jim Nyukuti another remarkable talent who has only begun painting recently.
This exhibition is a unique opportunity to acquire a piece of our cultural history from a rare group of individuals
