Background

Tanzania is located on the east coast of Africa and is home to some of the continent's most famous landmarks including Mt. Kilimanjaro, the highest point in Africa and the Serengeti National Park. Tanzania is one of the most peaceful countries in the region. There are no serious social and political conflicts but it is among the poorest countries of the world. The economy is largely dependent on agriculture and locally available natural resources. Only 10 percent of Tanzania's 36 million people live in urban centres. Many people do not have access to safe water supplies.

World Vision Australia is working with the communities in Tanzania. Below is an example of a funded project:

Area Development Programs (ADPs)

The main goal of projects in Tanzania is to support individuals to become self-reliant. Projects include: preventive health care; nutrition training; training in sustainable agricultural techniques; providing convenient access to clean water; land management and environmental management.
