Background

Both the Israeli and Palestinian peoples trace their history back thousands of years in this region. Jerusalem is a sacred place to Jews, Christians and Muslims and is central to much of the conflict between these religious groups. While there have been numerous treaties, cease-fires and agreements, the tragic conflict between the Palestinian and Israeli peoples continues. Schools, roads and buildings are in desperate need for repair. Many children are malnourished and not attending school.

World Vision Australia is working with the communities in Jerusalem West Bank Gaza. Below are examples of funded projects:

Area Development Projects (ADPs)

The community is supported to provide their children with basic health care, sanitation facilities and educational needs. 'Well Baby' clinics give parents of young children access to health care. A school for the deaf is also funded.

Vocational Training

Palestinian women are participating in vocational training so that they have the skills to find employment or establish their own small businesses. Additional income provides essential relief for families with strained resources and can assist to break the poverty cycle.
