What is Team World Vision?

Team World Vision is a community of marathon and ‘fun' runners from across Australia who participate in existing major public sporting events, fundraising for World Vision’s Multiplying Gift Appeal (MGA).

What is 'My' Team World Vision?

‘My’ Team World Vision is a way for you to still be part of the team even if you cannot make it to one of our premier events.  Choose your own or create your own sporting event - whether a run, bike, tri, sail, or mountain climb - and join Team World Vision and raise funds for the Multiplying Gift Appeal.

What does Team World Vision raise money for?

Every time you run for Team World Vision, the donations you raise will go towards delivering life-saving food aid and essential relief to help tens of thousands of people in desperate need of food to survive. World Vision works with the United Nations World Food Programme to provide food aid and essential relief to families in urgent need. The World Food Programme provides the food and World Vision delivers it, and this is where your help makes a big difference.

If you are participating in one of our overseas events (e.g. New York Marathon) then the funds raised may be directed to a different program.

I am stuck on my training, can you help?

We have some excellent resources available for you including training programs from your chosen event and advice on how to get started. We’re unable to give you any more detailed training advice and suggest that you track down a local trainer or gym where you can speak to them about your training requirements and putting together a specific plan for your needs.

How can I promote Team World Vision in my area?

There are a few ways you can do this: 
  • Use this template press release to contact your local paper with your own story
  • Download a poster and promote your fundraising events
  • Request some Team World Vision posters via email from us to display in your workplace, church or school
  • Talk about your challenge with everyone you know!

Is there a fundraising minimum?

There is no fundraising minimum. When you create your fundraising page, we suggest a fundraising target which you can choose to adopt or change to whatever you feel is suitable.
If you are participating in one of our overseas events (e.g. New York Marathon) then you may be required to raise a minimum fundraising target.

Can I collect cash or cheque donations?

Absolutely! Please encourage your donors to visit your online page where they can make a pledge to donate via cash or cheque. Once their details have been submitted they will receive a pledge form to accompany any donation that is banked at the Post Office or via BPay. Once their donation has been processed, they will receive a tax receipt by email and your online fundraising total will automatically update.
