Who Linking Hands helps
Indigenous children, their families and communities...
Australia has recognised that many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Australians experience disadvantage across a range of indicators such as infant mortality, illness and life expectancy, educational participation and achievement, employment and housing.
Indigenous children are nearly three times as likely to die before their first birthday. Two-thirds of Indigenous children will not finish secondary school and on average, will die 17 years younger than other Australians. Indigenous communities and their leaders are eager for transformation. As a child focussed organisation, World Vision is committed to securing the physical, emotional, social and material wellbeing of Indigenous children. Our experience has shown us that lasting benefits for children come from fostering the development of a child's family and their community. Partner communities have invited World Vision to contribute our expertise in development to facilitate transformation in the lives of Indigenous children, their families and communities.
Successfully addressing Indigenous disadvantage requires genuine engagement with Indigenous communities. We can’t do this worthwhile work without your support.
