Melbourne Gospel Choir and Sons of Korah sing for a cause

Published: 18 January 2012

  1. Freedom has been created in partnership with World Vision Australia to combat child slavery.

World Vision are partnering with talented Australian artists through our Vision Artist program. Our Vision Artists share our passion for creating change; educating and challenging everyday Australians to join our fight against social injustice and global poverty.

Vision Artist The Melbourne Gospel Choir have been instrumental in mobilising World Vision campaigns such as Child Rescue (protecting vulnerable children from danger, suffering and abuse) and Don’t Trade Lives (advocating for an end to human trafficking and slavery), helping to spread the message through their music.

In October 2010, The Melbourne Gospel Choir lead singer Judd Field travelled to India, to see firsthand the difference World Vision projects are making in impoverished communities.

Judd found the trip life-changing; and on his return began recording a new album inspired by his experiences.  The result of this is The Melbourne Gospel Choir’s latest album “Freedom” which is out now.

Also visiting World Vision’s projects in India last year was Matt Jacoby from renowned Psalmist group Sons of Korah.

Matt viewed a range of World Vision projects at various stages of implementation. Seeing projects less than a year old alongside projects that had been running for years really emphasised to Matt the real and lasting change that is possible for communities.

Sons of Korah recently toured to launch their latest album “Wait”. During their concerts they included an appeal for Australian fans to consider sponsoring a child through World Vision. In New South Wales and Victoria alone, this saw 18 children in great need being sponsored.
