World Vision has partnered with Australian artists who share our passion and want to express a fresh message encouraging people to stay the course and be part of the solution to poverty and injustice.
Our artists see themselves as a voice that can educate and challenge other Australians. They are the conduit for people without a voice.
The artists who partner with World Vision also want to learn more. In addition to the information World Vision provides, our artists visit our programs overseas. Then through their art – poetry, photography, music, film and more – they tell stories that change hearts. Our artists have their own authentic journey of discovering the issues of injustice and poverty and this is reflected in their work. It is this personal story that connects so powerfully with their audience.
Art has the power to connect with people on a deep level. It is often able to cut through many of the complexities and doubts that stop Australians from connecting with the issues.
Since our Artists Program started in 2010, we have forged partnerships with
Sons of Korah, the
Melbourne Gospel Choir,
Parachute Band, Ken Duncan,
Cameron Semmens and
Levi McGrath and we are in discussion with several others. We have launched Cameron Semmens’ collection of poems,
"Give a Man a Fish", completed a tour with Levi McGrath and partnered with
Ed Kowalczyk’s tour. This year we will partner with the
Soweto Gospel Choir during their extensive tour of Australia and New Zealand.
