Rebecca Gibney goes inside Malawi’s hospitals

Published: 20 December 2009

Sub-Saharan Africa accounts for almost half the world’s maternal and child deaths, but Malawi, relatively, is a success story. Over 60% of mothers have a skilled birth attendant at their birth and almost all children are immunised. Actor and mother Rebecca Gibney visits a Malawian hospital that without the benefits of running water or stable electricity sees more than 120 patients every day .

Hi, What an inspirational story. I was wondering if as a result of your story the DOWA hospital now has runnig water, power and a larger delivery room? Regards, Anna
