In 2009, Hugh Jackman and his wife Deborra-Lee Furness travelled to Ethiopia in their role as ambassadors for World Vision Australia.
During the visit, Hugh met Dukale, a coffee farmer.
Growing up, poverty had deprived Dukale of an education, but he saw an opportunity to create a new future for his family when World Vision offered access to a new kind of economic empowerment.
Hugh was inspired by Dukale's story, and made him a promise.
The journey that Hugh started in Ethiopia and the promise he made to Dukale inspired him to launch
Laughing Man Worldwide.
Hugh's trip to Ethiopia and his experience with Dukale were documented in the film
Seeds of Hope.
Laughing Man Worldwide makes a difference in two ways - by supporting entrepreneurs like Dukale who share their vision, and by giving 100% of the profits it receives from these ventures to charity.
The film
Seeds of Hope will soon be available to the general public for purchase online.

World Vision and Laughing Man have a shared goal of giving people a hand up, not a hand out.
