Child sponsorship in Haiti

The best way to support children and families in Haiti right now is to donate to World Vision's Haiti earthquake appeal.

World Vision is not currently able to arrange new sponsorship of children in Haiti as our staff are focusing their efforts on responding to the emergency situation in Port-au-Prince. As a result, we cannot maintain our standard operating procedures, including correspondence between sponsors and their sponsored children, Annual Progress Reports (APRs), and answers to general queries about individual sponsored children.

As the situation stabilises, we will be resuming our standard development operations, and after this time we can then begin to arrange new sponsorships of children in Haiti. However, this could take several weeks or months, as we are still trying ascertain a clear impact of the extent of the damage in and around the capital.

World Visions staff on the ground in Haiti have confirmed that no areas where child sponsorship programs operate have been directly affected by the earthquake. While tremors may have been felt in the areas there have been no reports of loss of life or damage to infrastructure.

If you would like to sponsor a child in need in another region, please visit our Child Sponsorship page. You can also arrange sponsorship by calling our Supporter Service Team on 13 32 40 or sending us a message.

When things settle in Haiti, child sponsorship will be an important way of supporting long-term work to help Haiti recover from the disaster and get back on its feet. While we are not currently arranging new sponsorships in Haiti, we can certainly take your details and return your enquiry when sponsorship activities resume. Please contact our Supporter Service Team to arrange this.
