How you can help

  1. Young earthquake survivors begin to smile again in a Child Friendly Space.
  2. Following severe snowstorms in 2008, Chinese farmers received rice for their families.
  3. Abbas sits in the debris of his home, destroyed in the Iran Earthquake of 2003.
  4. Relief staff prepare food for malnourished children in eastern Congo.
  5. Displaced by conflict, these girls dream of a better future.

For World Vision to remain on perpetual stand-by - ready to respond when disaster strikes poor communities - we need to keep our Emergency and Preparedness Fund in a sound financial position.

World Vision responds quickly to humanitarian disasters - we are often the first to arrive with the expertise and equipment to make a real impact in the first few hours and days after a catastrophe.

When large-scale emergencies occur, it can take governments and charities - including World Vision - days or weeks to establish effective donation programs. Before this even occurs, though, we are there on the ground to ensure people have what they need to stay alive.

Our Emergency and Preparedness Fund enables World Vision's disaster experts to immediately:

  • save lives and reduce human suffering
  • protect and restore livelihoods
  • reduce the risks faced by communities affected by disaster and conflict.

Our responses increasingly include strategies to address the needs and protection requirements of orphans and vulnerable children.

Emergencies and disasters are two things: unpredictable and inevitable. By donating to our Emergency and Preparedness Fund, you can make a real and immediate contribution to people whose lives have been torn apart.
