Working to address the consequences

Published: 27 August 2009

  1. Through Twice As Green, you can support environmental work in poor communities around the world.
  2. Many of our programs respond to the environmental challenges poor communities face, such as water scarcity.
  3. Tanzanian students plant trees provided by World Vision in their schoolyard.

For over 40 years, World Vision's work with communities around the world has focused on development that is sustainable – for both people and their environments. Many of our current operational solutions address the devastating effects of climate change and alleviate the poverty that results from negative environmental impacts.

World Vision is Australia’s largest humanitarian aid organisation. Our work across the world seeks to help people help themselves to escape poverty.

Climate change poses a significant threat to ongoing success. It has been identified as a contributor to the Global Food Crisis; it is affecting water supplies in many countries; and it is compounding the difficulties for children who are already suffering from hunger and disease.

Many of our funds and programs are directed toward helping alleviate this suffering: including Child Sponsorship, our Emergency Preparedness Fund, and of course, our program fighting poverty and climate change together, One Earth.

When you support World Vision's work, you are contributing to effective programs that help improve lives.
