We engage volunteers because of their passion, enthusiasm, skills and experience; but most of all because they share a common goal in wanting to help the world’s poorest children and communities.
Volunteering allows people to support this cause in non-financial ways.

Does World Vision ‘hire’ volunteers?
Occasionally. But like everyone else, volunteers must go through the same application process, so it’s fair for all.

Can I volunteer if I work full time?
Yes. Many of our volunteers who work full time find time to volunteer during the evening or on weekends. Some even have the support of their employers to be involved in short-term or one-off projects.

How many hours do you require from volunteers?
It depends. There is a range of volunteer roles requiring different amounts of time – from full-time placements to one-off projects.

Can I volunteer overseas?
Sorry, not with World Vision.
All our development projects are run in partnership with World Vision national offices in the countries where we work and they recruit qualified local staff. This promotes better community engagement and outcomes.

I live overseas. Can I volunteer with World Vision Australia?
Unfortunately not. We do not have the resources to sponsor volunteers from overseas.

Is there a World Vision Work Experience Program?
Yes. Our Work Experience Program aims to give secondary students an understanding of what it is like to work in a humanitarian organisation.
Placements are usually at our national office in East Burwood, Victoria. With limited places each year, you’ll need to go through an application process at the start of the school year.

Yes. Our Internship Program provides you with the opportunity to apply your knowledge within a planned and supervised work environment. You’ll gain hands-on experience in working for a large non-profit organisation.
