  • How many staff does World Vision employ?

    World Vision International employs around 22,500 staff worldwide.

    World Vision Australia employs over 550 staff across our head office in East Burwood, Melbourne and state offices in Western Australia, South Australia, Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland.

  • What’s the difference between World Vision Australia and World Vision International?

    World Vision Australia is part of the World Vision International Partnership which operates in 97 countries. It is a partnership of interdependent national offices, most of which are governed by local boards or advisory councils.

    While we are accountable to other World Vision offices, World Vision Australia is a distinct legal entity. Together with our partner offices, we are responsible for the design, monitoring and evaluation of all programs for which we provide funding. Our fundraising and marketing activities are managed in Australia.

  • Do I need to be Christian to work for World Vision Australia?

    We are a Christian organisation and our staff are expected to uphold our Christian values. However, you do not have to be Christian to work for World Vision Australia.

    Many World Vision Australia staff take part in Christian practices at work with weekly ‘Corporate Devotions’. These events are not compulsory, but all staff are expected to respect this aspect of World Vision Australia.

    The demographic of people joining us is changing significantly. Ten years ago, many applicants came to us at the end of their corporate careers.

    Now, we are noticing an exciting new trend: people are joining us at the height of their careers. When they leave World Vision Australia, they often work in the World Vision partnership, return to the corporate world or move into another not for profit organisation.

    No, World Vision Australia has not changed any policies.

    World Vision US has recently made some amendments to their hiring policy. However World Vision Australia is not affected by any of these changes.

  • Does World Vision Australia consider sexual orientation of job applicants in hiring and recruitment?

    No, World Vision Australia doesn't discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation in compliance with Australian laws, including equal opportunity legislation.

    Selection criteria for positions recruited is based on skills, knowledge, experience and capability to perform the role. According to World Vision Australia policy and Australian legislation, we do not ask questions about sexual orientation, marriage or lifestyle choices during recruitment interviews.

    The World Vision Australia employee manual sets out that 'it is unlawful for you to discriminate against a person because of their actual or assumed: … gender, gender identity, lawful sexual activity, sexual orientation.'

    No, World Vision Australia does not have a lifestyle code of conduct for staff.

    As a child-focused organisation, World Vision Australia staff are required to read, sign and abide by a Child Protection Policy and undertake criminal record checks prior to commencing employment and each two years thereafter.

    World Vision offices around the world are part of a federation that share a mission statement, vision and core values.

    World Vision US is a separate entity to World Vision Australia working in a different context and their policies and decisions do not apply to us.

    The execution of our mission and governance of World Vision Australia remains independent, compliant with Australian law, and is the sole responsibility of the WVA board.
