Have you joined the iPhone crowd? Apparently, Apple has sold more than 100 million iPhones since the first version was released in 2007. If you’re one of the many whose phone has a picture of a partially-eaten apple printed on the back, we’ve got news for you.
As of today, the 2011 40 Hour Famine App is live! You can find it in the iTunes store here, and of course it’s 100% free.
The app can connect w
ith your online fundraising page, so that you can show anyone how much progress you’ve made at any time, and it lets you send messages through Facebook, email and Twitter to let people know you're doing the 40 Hour Famine. There's a donation form so that you can take donations anywhere, anytime. Giving people a quick and easy way to donate on the spot should definitely help you get results!
The app is also packed full of stories and videos, including introductions to and videos about Abito, Atai, Berek and Lily from East Timor, who some of you might already know a little bit about from this website and other parts of our campaign this year.
There’s also plenty of information about the 40 Hour Famine, how the money raised will help to fight hunger, tips for fundraising and introductions to this year’s Youth Ambassadors.
All of this is good stuff to read and see for yourself but, better yet, having it with you on your
phone makes it quick and easy to show it to someone else that you might be trying to convince to get involved. Word of mouth is still one of our most powerful ways of getting new people started on the 40 Hour Famine. The videos and information in the app put some powerful recruitment tools in your pocket!
So, if you’ve got an iPhone, download the app and connect it to your fundraising profile page! Convince your friends to download it as well! Even if they haven’t signed up to do the 40 Hour Famine yet, they can still get the app just to check it out. The things they read in it might convince them to do something real to fight hunger and poverty!
