Individuals

Feel like doing the 40 Hour Famine in 2010 under your own steam? You’re in the right place. Even if you want to go solo, you needn’t feel like you’re alone.

This year, the 40 Hour Famine is on 20-22 August*. During this time, we want you to go without something in order to raise money: money that World Vision will use to help children who are suffering the effects of the Global Food Crisis in Nepal and Kenya - plus other countries too.

Plenty of people do the 40 Hour Famine by themselves, and we’ve got a heap of resources at the ready to assist you.

The big thing for Individual participants to know about the 40 Hour Famine is that it all happens online – so no receipt books and no trips to the bank. All of your donations can be collected and posted through your online fundraising page.

We’ve made it very easy to get started and set up. See our step by step guide below.

*You can choose another 40 hour period to do the 40 Hour Famine – the important thing that it is done in time for all your donations to be received by 30 September 2010.

Online fundraising: it’s the way to go

Once you’ve signed up and been allocated a Participant ID, you can get your 40 Hour Famine experience started. The first thing to do will be to set up your Fundraising page, so you can send the link to your friends.

Are you 15 or under?

Please make sure your parents or guardian also read the Terms of Use before you sign up.

Take care of yourself

Going without for 40 hours might well turn out to be a tough thing to do. But fear not, because we’re here to help. Take a look at the links on this page to find the resources you’ll need to stay comfortable and have fun, even when you are going without.

Remember, if you’re in primary school and choose to go without food, we ask that consider doing this FOR 8 HOURS ONLY. Check out our tips for staying safe here.
