Tips for Staying Safe
Going without anything for 40 hours – especially something you love – is gonna be tough. And if you’ve decided you want to give up food, then you may as well be prepared.
Here's a few tips:
Drink plenty of water, mineral water, fruit juice or tea.
(Heads-up: drinking Boost Juice is not really what the 40 Hour Famine is all about!)- Feel free to eat energy sweets (eg. barley sugars), occasionally.
- If you’re at primary school, please consider skipping food for only 8 hours.
Probably best to ask a parent or guardian for advice. - Doctors warn that going without food could be harmful if you’re pregnant, have recently had surgery, or have a history of diabetes, gastric or duodenal ulcers, heart conditions or kidney complaints.
Please ask your doctor for advice. - When you finish the 40 Hour Famine, ease your way back to normal eating by having something light and healthy – like a salad, or fruit.
