What is Child Sponsorship?
Child Sponsorship provides Australians with an effective and fulfilling way to help give a child from a poor community the chance of a brighter future, while at the same time supporting the child’s family and their wider community. Because the wellbeing of children is closely linked to the wellbeing of their families and communities, our programs stretch to all of them.
How are Sponsorship contributions used?
The contributions of child sponsors are combined and sometimes supplemented with funds from other sources, such as government grants. These funds are then leveraged for maximum impact and used to implement projects that benefit not only their sponsored child, the child’s family and community, but also children in other sponsorship communities.
Some funds are also used to support activities in Australia, such as working with the government to improve Australia’s overseas aid program and empowering individuals and groups to take action on the underlying causes of global poverty and injustice.
