Helping to secure East Timor's future
Together World Vision and Best Western Australasia are helping our close neighbour to improve food security and reduce child malnutrition.
For three years Best Western Australasia has supported World Vision’s work and this year we are embarking on an exciting new phase in this partnership with a special focus on East Timor.
Best Western is directly supporting the Aileu Food Security and Nutrition Project which is addressing chronic household food insecurity and child malnutrition. Up to 90% of East Timorese experience food shortage for at least one month during a normal agricultural year, with around two thirds of the rural population experiencing food shortage for four months a year.
Donations will assist families in Aileu district to improve crop production and child nutrition and health.
Best Western Australasia’s goal is to raise $20,000 towards providing tangible benefits for families in Aileu, including the distribution of vegetable and other seeds, and training in improved crop production techniques.
