A child’s rights: Optional or inalienable?

In 1989, the United Nations adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child that includes the rights to protection and freedom from exploitation. This quick snapshot suggests that while we’ve secured many of these rights for Australian children, we’ve got some work to do before they become universal truths.
