Donna from Victoria visited her sponsored child Tien in Vietnam, where she was able to see firsthand how her support was helping Tien’s family and community to improve their livelihoods.

“We met Tien and his mother at his school,” Donna explained. “It was just great to actually see this young man "in real life"- not just a photo - and to be able to speak to him and his mum."

Later, Donna met farmers in Tien’s community who have received help from World Vision to improve food production. Farmers had been provided with livestock including pigs, chickens and cows to not only provide food for their families, but to produce offspring to sell at the local market.

“They had installed some water pump and water storage facilities,” Donna added, “and one farmer was starting a grove of trees that would provide spices he could sell.”

Donna said that it was good to see that the support she is providing through child sponsorship was not only “put to use for daily needs, but also to help the farmers to maintain the dignity of being able to provide for their family and also earn some much needed money".
