World Vision ambassador, Hugh Jackman, appeared with some of the most prominent world leaders at the United Nations Climate Week. He is advocating for the poor in the fight against climate change.

At the opening ceremony, Mr Jackman spoke alongside world leaders such as Tony Blair, former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, and UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon. He related his first-hand experiences, seeing developing nations impacted by climate change.

Mr Jackman and his wife Deborra-Lee Furness sponsor 15 children through World Vision. They became World Vision ambassadors in October 2008.

Since then they have travelled to Cambodia and Ethiopia to see World Vision's community development activities firsthand. Meeting silk weavers and farmers who are clients of a World Vision low cost loan fund in Cambodia, they learnt about the benefits of micro-economic development. While in Ethiopia, they met coffee farmers and saw how fair trade is improving family incomes.

Mr Jackman is an ambassador for World Vision’s SEE Solutions program, which supports practical and innovative economic development projects in poor communities.
